I’m doing a Whole 30 for a couple of reasons: 1) I want to feel great from the inside out, 2) Putting some stricter guidelines around my food choices keeps me from getting distracted by things that might otherwise tempt me, and 3) Sometimes it takes a while to reap the benefits of a change and having a timeline provides the structure and encouragement I need when I begin to feel impatient.
I plan to share what I eat each day to help me accurately judge what my body needs and to, hopefully, provide a little inspiration or planning assistance if you’re trying to figure out your day as well. If you have questions about anything, please leave me a comment.
Everyone is different, so I hope you don’t judge me too harshly by what I eat. And maybe you’ll see something that resonates with you and, in that case, excellent! If not, I’ll be posting different recipes on the blog too, so don’t despair!
Here’s to the journey!

5:30 Black coffee
8:00 2 eggs with Italian seasoned mushrooms, onions, collard greens, spaghetti squash, tomatoes, and black olives. 1/4 avocado + tomatoey vinaigrette. Delicious!
10:15 Post-workout 1 1/2 oz. pork tenderloin
11:30 Cuban beef patty, 1/3 c. German Sweet Potato Salad, cucumber salad
1:00 1/2 an apple with about 1 Tbsp. coconut butter
5:30 Beef stew, fennel-orange salad
8:30 2 dates and a small handful of pecans
Food I miss cream in my coffee and cocktails in the evenings. See the quote below? I guess I’ll just work through it.
Quote from the Whole 30 Timeline for Days 12-15: “All joking aside, though, this phase gets really intense and for some people. This is the part of the program where our minds try to drive us back to the comfort of the foods we used to know. Our food relationships are deeply rooted and strongly reinforced throughout the course of our lives and breaking through them is really big deal.”
Mood Maybe yesterday was a bit much? My mood is definitely quieter today.
Sleep 8 hours. Set my clock back, got some extra sleep. Magic!
Exercise Another great workout with friends this morning. I love getting it done early. Then 3pm yoga slows down Sunday and gets me ready for the week.
Curious if you have tried Coconut Milk in your coffee as a replacement for cream?
I have, but I don’t really care for it. I might try it again though. I find that any replacement milks, like almond milk or coconut milk, make my coffee taste “muddy”. Luckily, I enjoy my coffee black, but I still miss that creamy goodness on occasion. And thanks for mentioning it! I bet some readers will want to give it a try. I’d love to hear if people like it or not.
