Whole 30: Day 24 Recap

doing whole 30 image12

I’m doing a Whole 30 for a couple of reasons: 1) I want to feel great from the inside out, 2) Putting some stricter guidelines around my food choices keeps me from getting distracted by things that might otherwise tempt me, and 3) Sometimes it takes a while to reap the benefits of a change and having a timeline provides the structure and encouragement I need when I begin to feel impatient.

I plan to share what I eat each day to help me accurately judge what my body needs and to, hopefully, provide a little inspiration or planning assistance if you’re trying to figure out your day as well. If you have questions about anything, please leave me a comment.

Everyone is different, so I hope you don’t judge me too harshly by what I eat. And maybe you’ll see something that resonates with you and, in that case, excellent! If not, I’ll be posting different recipes on the blog too, so don’t despair!

Here’s to the journey!

***************************************************************************************************************

5:00 Black coffee

6:30 Lebanese eggs (2) with collard greens and zucchini hummus

12:00 Cauliflower soup, red curry eggs (2), banana

4:00 Small handful of macadamia nuts

7:00 1/2 a marrow baked sweet potato, a couple ounces of spicy beef, salad with 1/4 avocado

Food I am having a little trouble with my lunches. I don’t have any meat pre-cooked and I don’t really feel like eating it at lunch right now so I’m not inspired to defrost and cook some. Yesterday I had tuna, didn’t feel like that again today. I added hard-boiled eggs to some leftover red curry on slaw and that worked out alright – but it makes for a light protein day. I think I didn’t make enough emergency protein on the weekend. New plan: I’ll make meatballs or something so that I don’t run into this problem again. I always feel like meatballs. Overall, I was hardly hungry today. Weird.

Mood My mood is tired today. Some things have been on my mind lately and I feel a bit run down. On the other hand, I am extremely excited about my half a pig that I just picked up from a local farm!

Sleep 7ish – Is it 7 or 7.5 when the last 1/2 hour is spent lying awake in the warm, cozy bed?

Exercise Tough workout at the gym today. Got it done – looking forward to some weights tomorrow.

  1. What about a beef stew sort of thing for lunches? Also interesting that your tastes are changing as well as your appetite. Maybe your system is rebalancing for its needs?

    • Funny you should mention that! I took a beef stew out last night to defrost. 🙂

I think there is definitely something to the idea of a changing appetite. I ate more than I needed the night before – and it was particularly high in protein and healthy fats – so I wonder if my body just didn’t need as much yesterday. I seem back to normal today, which circles all the way around to listening to my body and I am convinced that if I’d had toast or a muffin, I wouldn’t be able to hear anything but the sugar-demon screamin’.

  2. I’m just catching up on your updates! You are really doing great. 🙂

I often feel like that as long as I am eating good paleo foods, my body rebounds from days of over-eating by reducing my appetite the next day. It’s odd — but very fortunate, I often think!

I’d love to know where you got your half a pig from! I’ve made phone calls to a few farms in CO but never heard back. Can you share the name of the place you bought it?

    • It is amazing what our bodies tell us when we listen! I honestly believe, though, that when I am not eating paleo, I can’t really hear what it’s saying.

As for the pig – I got it from Country Roots Farm which is a small farm in Pueblo. They just do a few pigs but you can keep your eye out to see when/if they do more.
