I’m doing a Whole 30 for a couple of reasons: 1) I want to feel great from the inside out, 2) Putting some stricter guidelines around my food choices keeps me from getting distracted by things that might otherwise tempt me, and 3) Sometimes it takes a while to reap the benefits of a change and having a timeline provides the structure and encouragement I need when I begin to feel impatient.
I plan to share what I eat each day to help me accurately judge what my body needs and to, hopefully, provide a little inspiration or planning assistance if you’re trying to figure out your day as well. If you have questions about anything, please leave me a comment.
Everyone is different, so I hope you don’t judge me too harshly by what I eat. And maybe you’ll see something that resonates with you and, in that case, excellent! If not, I’ll be posting different recipes on the blog too, so don’t despair!
Here’s to the journey!
***************************************************************************************************************
5:00 Black coffee
7:30 2 egg, 2 oz. ham, jerk seasoned mushroom/spaghetti squash sauté, 1/4 avocado
12:15 4 oz. Romanian sausage, citrus cauliflower, warm apple with coconut butter
1:30 This amazing soup and a small handful of pecans
6:15 Crockpot beef, roasted veg, banana
Food AAAhhhhh! Why am I so hungry? I can’t tell if it’s mental or physical. I have been kind of hungry before on my rest day, though, so maybe there is something to that. Or it could be because I’m tired. The hormone response for hunger/satiety gets out of whack when that happens. Or maybe it’s because it’s Day 30.
Mood I am not sure how to describe my mood today. I feel rather conflicted with the ending of my 30-day challenge. I will blog about my results tomorrow and start a new journey with the insight I have gained this past month.
Sleep 6.5 hours. I am tired. I didn’t get enough sleep – sometimes that’s just the way it goes when you’re a mama and you have a sick kiddo.
Exercise Rest day!
Wow. I can’t imagine having ham, sausage, and beef all in the same day! Granted, I’m a vegetarian but that boggles my mind. On the other hand, I believe a serious lack of protein is the main reason I have so much weight to lose. For me, I must need the “equivalent” to your meats; protein powder (Ultimate Meal plus hemp and chia seeds), tempeh, and beans all in one day (Although, I realize my proteins include carbs unlike yours.). This, I struggle with. Ugh! Discipline! Not my forte!
It’s funny that you mention that! I read something one time that talked about how people would say, “Wow – that’s a lot of eggs!” if you told them you had scrambled eggs at breakfast, hard boiled eggs at lunch, and an omelet for dinner. But people will happily have cereal for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch, and noodles at dinner – never once thinking, “Wow – that’s a lot of grains!”
I can tell you that when I had my blood work done in July after nearly a year of eating primarily paleo-style, and my cholesterol (as well as other factors) all improved.
